Many of our teaching staff are also researchers.

Artist/teachers from Trinity Laban are developing innovative, collaborative projects which aim to push the boundaries of the art forms and promote the development of new artistic media. Students often study alongside Trinity Laban staff, researching topics related to staff expertise and creating support networks with common interests.

Trinity Laban supports a wide range of research-based activity including choreography and composition, performance, scenography and dance/music science, as well as encouraging interdisciplinary work, for example with film or technology. Some researchers pursue interdisciplinary work, combining practice with theoretical perspectives, such as looking at the cultural context of the creation and performance of work, and education and pedagogically-based work.

“I’m able to provide professional contact with the new music world for my students through mentoring and being part of the rehearsal process. It is a creative college where the collaboration between Trinity and Laban provides endless stimulus for research and sparks new ways of working” – D Gribbin: Lecturer (Research)
