Biography

Tabby Estell has worked in music education for over 20 years. She studied music at Manchester University and the Royal Northern College Music and was a teacher in London before moving into orchestral education. In 1997 she joined London Sinfonietta, managing the ensemble's pioneering education programme, and became Director of Education and Community at London Philharmonic Orchestra in 2005. She had an active freelance career as a music education specialist with various arts organisations including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Opera House and Southbank Centre before joining Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance as Head of Junior Trinity in 2014. In August 2015 Tabby was given responsibility for all the conservatoire’s work with children and young people in the new position of Head of Children and Young People’s Programmes. She has worked closely with music services, music hubs, junior and senior conservatories and other providers of music education throughout her career and is a passionate advocate for excellence in music education provision for young people, and for supporting young musicians to reach their full potential.
