Are you a budding young band or singer/songwriter aged 11-17? Join our inaugural Battle of the Bands, open to young musicians who live or study in the boroughs of Greenwich, Lewisham, Southwark and Lambeth!

The lucky finalists will perform on a professional stage in July with feedback from our panel of music industry and Popular Music degree teaching staff. The winning band receives coaching and a recording session at Trinity Laban to help them develop further as the popular music artists of tomorrow.

When: Tuesday 09 July 2024, 18:00 – 21:00

Where: Blackheath Halls, 23 Lee Rd, Blackheath, London SE3 9RQ

What: Trinity Laban’s inaugural ‘Battle of the Bands’ show, taking place on the main stage at Blackheath Halls, with professional sound and lighting, and judged by a panel of music industry experts and Trinity Laban’s Popular Music degree teaching staff. Each act will be required to perform one cover and one original song.

Application Process: 

  1. Complete the form below to let us know your band is interested in taking part. All applications must include an adult contact (eg, school music teacher, youth worker, project leader, parent): it is expected that participants will be accompanied by a responsible adult at the event itself.
  2. Email a demo of one song (cover or original) to k.dornan@trinitylaban.ac.uk by 10 May.
  3. We will contact you by 22 May to confirm whether your band has been shortlisted.
  4. Even if submitting multiple entries from one school or music hub, this form needs to be filled in individually for each band applying.

What is the prize?

A day at Trinity Laban, including band coaching from one of our top popular music tutors, and a session in our on-site recording studio.
