Take the Lead
Our musical theatre summer school has a focus on stage craft and vocal technique, with audition technique masterclasses and specialist dance workshops to suit all abilities. You will have the chance to train with current Trinity Laban students, meet our inspiring alumni, see a West End show, sign up for optional 1-1 consultation lessons and find out about further study.
Our Musical Theatre Summer School tutor team consists of industry professionals and current teaching staff of Trinity Laban's Musical Theatre programme.
All tutors have established track records of working in a range of roles across the West End including musical direction, singing, and choreography.
I enjoyed being taught by those who are part of the musical theatre industry. Having the time to ask them questions proved very useful to understanding what a career in musical theatre entails as well as what it takes to get there
What to Expect
The course has been created to give participants the experience of full-time, conservatoire musical theatre training and further establish practical skills, as well as a more informed understanding of the expectations of the genre. Participants can expect classes such as jazz dance, vocal technique, acting through song and audition technique. All of these classes will be used to develop confidence and communication within musical theatre and performance settings, with an emphasis on the integration of these skills.
I met amazing new friends which made the classes even more enjoyable because I was having fun with new people I wouldn’t have met anywhere else.
2017 ParticipantTimetable & Content
We offer 30 min or 1 hour optional add-on consultation lessons in either singing or acting. This offers a valuable one-to-one session with our industry professionals during lunch breaks or after hours.
They were really beneficial, I felt like I could ask any questions I had and now I feel more confident about audition material and how to improve techniques.
Trip to the West End
As part of Take the Lead, all participants receive a ticket as part of a group outing to see a West End Show with the course leaders. In 2018, we went to see Young Frankenstein.
In 2017, participants went to see 42nd Street, featuring Trinity Laban alumnus Zoe Rogers. The group had the chance to meet Zoe for an informal Q&A session before the show.
"The opportunities were endless, my favourite being able to meet Zoe Rogers from 42nd Street, as I found this very insightful and inspiring! It is such a brilliant school for the performing arts and I felt right at home!" 2017 Participant
