Biography
Charmian graduated in 2008 after completing an Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Vocal Performance. Since graduating operatic highlights include Tytania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) for both Opéra de Baugé and Garsington Opera, creating the role of Catarina in Nicola LeFanu’s Dream Hunter at Wiltons Music Hall, second niece for the Aldeburgh Festival’s award-winning Grimes on the Beach and Fortuna (L’incoronazione di Poppea) with the Academy of Ancient Music at the Barbican. Charmian has collaborated many times with the composer Mira Calix with whom she has worked on projects for Opera North, Streetwise Opera and Spitalfields Music Festival. She has worked with Tête à Tête and premiered song cycles by Lloyd Moore and Graham Williams and orchestral cycles by Peter Child and Daniel Thomas Davis in Lontano’s 2012 Festival of Contemporary American Music. Charmian has worked as a soloist on the concert platform all over the world including Beijing Music Festival and Concertgebouw, Amsterdam.
While at Trinity Laban Charmian received a TCL Choral Scholarship.
