Biography

Dai Fujikura completed his BMus in 2000 and has gone on to become an established international composer. He has received numerous international prizes including the Ivor Composer Award 2019 for Chamber Ensemble, a Royal Philharmonic Society Award and the Paul Hindemith Prize. His work has been commissioned twice by the BBC proms and by, amongst others, the Munich Chamber Orchestra and the Oslo Sinfonietta. The London Sinfonietta premiered his Double Bass Concerto and in 2013 the BBC Symphony Orchestra gave the UK premiere of Atom. Many orchestras including the Seattle and Bamberg Symphony, the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra and the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra have performed his work. He has released several CDs and has his own record label, Minabel.
