Luca Silvestrini studied on the Professional Diploma in Dance Studies before joining Transitions Dance Company graduating in 1997. He went on to work with many choreographers including Maxine Doyle, Lea Anderson and Aletta Collins. In 1997 he co-founded the National Dance Award-winning Protein and is now sole Artistic Director of the company. He has created ten stage works for the company, as well as large-scale participatory events in the UK and abroad. He has also created work for other companies, including the Royal Opera House, Transitions Dance Company, Candoco, Bare Bones, English National Opera, Royal Court Theatre and Duckie. Luca has won a Jerwood Choreography Award, a Bonnie Bird New Choreography Award, The Place Prize 2006 Audience Award and also in 2006 was awarded a Rayne Fellowship. Protein is resident company at Greenwich Dance and Luca is a Work Place Artist and an Associate Artist at DanceXchange.
