Our dynamic company is made up of fourteen superb dancers from Cuba, Czech Republic, Greece, Italy, Poland, Singapore, UK and the USA.

Venia balancing

Venia Baltadorou

Greek dancer Venia graduated from the School of Physical Education and Sports Science at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2019. Training in contemporary dance alongside her studies, she has worked with dancers and choreographers including Ioanna Diakoumi, Evgrenia Psomiadou and Spyros Christakis. She has also performed in national touring productions and twice competed in the national-level Veria Dance Competition. As well as training in contemporary dance technique she also practices parkour and free running.

Venia’s MA Dance Performance studies at Trinity Laban are supported by the Trinity Laban Dance Award.

Federica Bertani

Federica Bertani

Born in Italy, Federica gained a Diploma from Liceo Coreutico Matilde di Canossa in 2017. She moved to London to study BA (Hons) Contemporary Dance at Trinity Laban, graduating in 2020. During her studies at Trinity Laban she worked with artists including Gary Lambert and Zoi Dimitriou and performed in Michael Clarke’s Oh My Goddess, restaged by Kate Coyne and Melissa Hetherington, as well as in choreographies by Roman Baca and Lizzi Kew Ross. Federica works as an apprentice with the Belgian choreographer Sarah Mck Fife.

Federica has been generously supported by The Mercers Company Scholarship for her MA Dance Performance studies at Trinity Laban.

Beth Clarke

London-born Beth began her dance training at Whitton Centre Dance Academy before completing a first-class honours’ degree in Dance Performance at Middlesex University. During her time at Middlesex she was part of several site-specific projects with Cantata Dramatica including Akathistos, Andromeda and Perpetua. She was also part of the filming of the ISTD contemporary dance syllabus devised by Dr Ross McKim and Sian Hopkins. Her contemporary dance interests are focused on floor work/release-based technique and Graham/Cohen based technique.

Beth’s MA Dance Performance studies at Trinity Laban are supported by the Headley Trust Award.

Charis Crudgington

Charis trained as part of Trinity Laban’s CAT scheme for six years, supported by local dance schools Dulwich Ballet School and Amanda Restell Academy of Dance, before gaining a place at Northern School of Contemporary Dance. While at NSCD she worked with Matthew Slater, Patricia Okenwa, Gary Clarke, Eleanor Sikorski and Anthony Missen from Company Chameleon, graduating with a First. She is grateful for the opportunity to continue to develop artistically as part of Transitions Dance Company.

Amy Harrison

Amy Harrison

Amy began dancing from the age of 2 at Jenny Brennan School of Dance. She was awarded a full scholarship to train at Elmhurst Ballet School from the age of 12 onwards. Whilst training there she worked alongside Ruth Brill, Paul James Rooney and Adam Rutherford. In 2017, Amy went onto train at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance where she achieved a BA in Ballet and Contemporary Dance. During her BA, Amy worked with a variety of artists and was exposed to different movement qualities and ideologies. Amy also thoroughly enjoyed performing ‘Stream’, a piece choreographed by Christopher Bruce.

Amy is generously supported by the Headley Trust Award for her MA Dance Performance studies at Trinity Laban.

Evie Currie-Mullan

Edinburgh-born Evie trained at Middlesex University, graduating from their Dance Performance course with a First Class Honours degree. Throughout her training she has worked collaboratively with a variety of artists including Vivienne West, Maga Judd, Sian Hopkins, Lewis Wilkins and Becky Namgauds while taking part in intensive programmes and performing in site specific pieces. Evie is excited to further her dance artistry by exploring different parts of the world and integrating with other movement-based practices.

Evie is grateful to receive the Headley Trust Award for support in her MA Dance Performance studies at Trinity Laban.

Kristyna Kocianova

Czech-born Kristyna began studying at the Janacek Conservatory in Ostrava aged 12 before training at the Prague National Dance Conservatory.

During her studies, she attended ballet classes with the Nederlands Dance Theatre and performed “Package” with 420PEOPLE Dance Company. After graduating, Kristyna moved to the UK and joined Plymouth-based Exim Dance Company. In 2019, she completed a three-month training program in New York with LimónPro of Limón Dance Company, where she performed “Night Light”. During the quarantine period, she has been working on a project with Depi Gorgogianni, “Research of Connection”.

Kristyna’s MA Dance Performance studies at Trinity Laban are supported by The Leverhulme Trust Scholarship.

Adrian Lawrence

Born and raised in the Lake District, Adrian gained his BA (Hons) in Liberal Arts at the University of Warwick before training in dance full-time at Trinity Laban on the Graduate Diploma in Dance, where he worked with choreographers such as Melanie Clarke and Lizzi Kew Ross. He has competed in dance at a national level and has won awards as both a performer and a choreographer. He particularly enjoys teaching dance and has led classes in ballet, contemporary, tap, as well as lyrical, commercial and theatre jazz styles at a variety of levels.

Adrian is extremely grateful to have received The Mercers Company Scholarship to support his MA Dance Performance studies at Trinity Laban.

Agnieszka jumping

Agnieszka Mencel

Born in Poland, Agnieszka obtained her Bachelors in Dance at the Poznań University of Physical Education, and graduated with Higher National Diploma from The Scottish School of Contemporary Dance. Between 2018-2020 she was a member of Third Thread ensemble, presenting their experimental work at festivals in Scotland. Agnieszka has taken classes and workshops with Polish Dance Theatre, Ultima Vez, Retina Dance Company and Scottish Dance Theatre. Collaborating with the choreographer Niamh O’Loughlin, she took part in residencies including Making Space 2019, and residency at Stellar Quines Theatre.

Agnieszka is honoured to be supported by the Headley Trust Award for her MA Dance Performance studies at Trinity Laban.

Mattt Moriarty

US-born dancer Mattt graduated from Skidmore College, New York in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Dance Performance and Choreography, with minors in Health Sciences and Arts Administration. While at Skidmore, Mattt took part in the restaging and creation of works by Stephen Petronio, Sidra Bell, Jawole Willa Jo Zollar and Ohad Naharin. During his semester abroad at the University of Cape Town, Mattt was fortunate to work under Sifiso Kweyama of Jazzart Dance Company, creating a new work for University students. Mattt is excited to be a part of Transitions for its 2020-21 season.

Claudia Hilda Rodríguez Pozo

As a first dancer of the National Company of Contemporary Danza (Cuba) she has worked with choreographers such as Theo Clinkard, Lea Anderson, Fleur Darkin, Billy Cowie, Itzik Galili, Anabel López Ochoa, George Céspedes, Julio Iglesias and Miguel Altunaga, and she has performed in theatres across America, Europe and the UK.

Claudia is a recipient of a Chevening Scholarship and Leverhulme Arts Scholarship, supporting her MA Dance Performance studies at Trinity Laban.

S. Arthur Sicilia

American dancer S. Arthur Sicilia graduated with a BFA in Contemporary Dance from the Boston Conservatory on a Jan Veen Scholarship, where he worked with artists such as Roderick George, The Merce Cunningham Trust, and Stephanie Martinez. He has additionally worked with Bobbi Jean Smith, Alan Lake and Hannes Langolf at Transformation Danse Montreal and in NYC. S. Arthur danced professionally with NeoDance Company while teaching and choreographing at DanceEmotion in Freiburg, Germany, where he premiered his most recent creations “Whispered Fragments From Dawn,” and “Kilter.” S. Arthur Sicilia holds registered teacher status from the Royal Academy of Dance.

Clara Stanford

Californian-born Clara Stanford graduated summa cum laude from Boston Conservatory in 2020 with a BFA in Contemporary Dance. During her undergraduate training, Clara enjoyed studying Horton, Limon, Release Technique, and Counter Technique, and had the opportunity to work with choreographers such as Jennifer Archibald and Zoe Scofield. She has spent her summers furthering her dance training at Alonzo King Lines Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance, and Axis Connect (Cherice and Charissa Barton).

Clara’s MA Dance Performance studies at Trinity Laban are supported by the Trinity Laban Dance Award.

Beryl Tay

Beryl Tay

Born and raised in Singapore, Beryl is a dynamic and captivating mover trained in Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary. Since 2017, Beryl has danced with Singapore-based contemporary dance company TRDOco where she has worked with artists such as Ryan Tan and Jeffrey Tan and internationally toured TRDOco’s company works “Cell12”, “We, The Singaporeans! (WTS!)” and “A.P.P. [A Perfect Person]”.

Beryl is the recipient of the Trinity Laban Dance Award and she is honoured to be part of Transitions Dance Company 2020-21.

Artistic Director – David Waring

David has performed and choreographed with a range of artists including Ricochet Dance Company, Motionhouse, Walker Dance, Adventures in Motion Pictures, The Featherstonehaughs and his group, fishpool (co-directed with Gaynor Coward). From 2000-2002 David was a participant and assistant director at PAL (Performing Arts Lab) and is engaged in a research project with Sonia Rafferty and Erica Stanton.

Performance work includes Lizzi Kew Ross and Company’s Stations, his solo hustler #4.5, Kate Brown’s See What Happens, Athina Vahla’s Listening Post at the London Science Museum, and his solo hustler at both the nottdance festival and the Capital Nights festival in Liverpool, supported by Merseyside Dance Initiative and Homotopia. He also choreographed for the launch of the new Fiat 500 in 2008. Continuing the series, hustler #2 (a guerrilla dance performance in an urban environment, choreographed and performed with Melodie Gonzales and twenty-one other couples) premiered in Big Dance 2010, supported by Greenwich Dance, and was also part of Greenwich and Docklands International Festival 2011.

David has mentored many independent dance artists in their research, including Melodie Gonzales and Fin Walker, has gained an MSc Mindfulness degree, studied Zero Balancing and is interested in training as a Breath Coach.

General Manager – Lee Bamford

Lee performed for eleven years after graduating from University of Winchester and London Contemporary Dance School. Choreographers he worked with include Liam Steel/Rob Tannion, Carolyn Carlson, Johann Kresnik, Jochen Ulrich, Jacky Lansley, Christina Comtesse, Fleur Darkin, Andrew Wright and Philippe Giraudeau. In 2004-2005, he was a founder member of Verena Weiss’ tanztheater company at Luzerner Theater (Switzerland). Lee performed in The Place Prize Final (2006) for Luca Silvestrini and in Rufus Norris and Javier de Frutos’ Olivier-Award winning production of Cabaret (2007-2008). He was a company dancer for Mei Hong Lin’s FAUST Prize nominated company at Staatstheater Darmstadt (Germany) 2009-2014.

Lee wrote for Dance Europe magazine (2011-2014), produced Tree for Sweetshop Revolution (2016) and was Hofesh Shechter Company’s Administration and HR Manager (2014-2017). In 2017 he completed the Stage One New Producers’ Course, the Clore Leadership Intensive and the One Dance UK Dancers’ Mentoring Scheme.
