The Binding of the Years, composed by Deirdre Gribbin, was programmed as part of RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra’s 70th Anniversary celebrations.

For the orchestra’s celebratory concert Gribbin’s was commissioned to write a new middle movement for her concerto The Binding of the Years, a work originally premiered in 2013 by renowned Irish pianist Finghin Collins and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Collins joined the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of conductor Gerhard Markson, to perform the revised work at Dublin’s National Concert Hall on 16 February. The concerto was programmed alongside selections from Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde and Prokofiev’s Romeo & Juliet.
